When creating a new connection from start node, the connection is not displayed(or partially displayed) until you hover over the destination node. See the bellow recording :

Yes. The recording was done on https://demo.bpmn.io/
The bug is reproducible with with any node that is placed close to the (0,0) coordinates.
This was the important hint. Can reproduce it myself now, too.
