Connecting elements across Lanes

I couldn’t able to connect a gateway from one participant (employee) to another activity, which is there in another participant (manager) group.

This is not allowed according to the BPMN specification. You may only communicate via message flows across participant borders.

The example refers to Lanes (which is a different concept than Participants).

Connecting elements across Lanes will be supported with the upcoming release of bpmn-js.
